Finished: Second unit of Termagants and Ripper Swarm from Leviathan

 

The second batch of Termagants (and the Ripper Swarm) has finally gotten their bases done! Not much to say about them, it turns out that I really like to paint Tyranids, which is a little bit unexpected. Because of that I put more of them into the "1 mini/day" system and I'm currently painting the Neurogaunts from Leviathan and if I manage to build and paint them, tome Hormagaunts from Typhon are next in line!

Finished: First unit of Termagants and Ripper Swarm from Leviathan

 As I promised in the Raveners post, here's the first unit of Termagants and a base of Ripper Swarms.

The Models

Those are easy to build, monopose models from the Leviathan starter set for Warhammer 40000 10th edition. Cool miniatures, really fun to paint.

The Scheme

I followed the scheme described in the Ravener post.

Finished: Man-skewer Boltboyz from Dominion

The models for today are another unit (albeit consisting of only 3 models) from the Dominion starter set for the previous edition of Age of Sigmar.

The Models

Another "easy to build" kit, I think it really was easy to build. Detailed and full of character, I love the sculpts. They do look like a more elite formation as their attire is not made up of sewn together scraps, but.. well, they are still rags, but at least more suited to the orky frames of these orruks!

The Scheme

I followed the scheme presented for the Gutrippaz. Obviously, those models don't have shields, so I painted the bits of armour that had eyes on them in turquise (and in one case that was also some metal covering over the quiver). There was also one new colour, namely Gore-grunta Fur on the leather parts of the quivers.

Finished: Ravener Kill Team from Kill Team: Typhon

 

I have finally managed to paint a whole Kill Team! And what a team it is! Composed of monstrous, alien bugs, those are big models on 40 mm bases. They are a part of the Typhon fomo box, alongside the Adeptus Mechanicus team, som hormagaunts and tyranid-like terrain pieces. I have thought that the first tyranids to showcase my chosen scheme and the tiny upgrades I made would be termagants, but it turns out that they don't come in 20 "man" squads, but swuads of 10 + 1 ripper swarm. That means that I have to paint the swarms before I show you the units (and it's two units, not 1!).

The Models

Each model could be built either as a basic ravener or one of the specialists, so I obviously chose to go with the "all specialists" approach. As many of the newer GW kits there are barely any mould lines. The sculpts are great and detailed, but I had some issues: I struggled to fit the lower jaw of the Wrecker (lower row, on the left) and some of the arms fell of during painting and I had to glue them back on. I would also suggest to not glue them to the bases before basing, as their sinous bodies make it much more difficult to manouver when applying basing paste. Overall they were not difficult to assemble and were a joy to paint.

Finished: Second batch of Dunlending Hill Tribesmen from Battle of Edoras

The second batch of Hill Tribesmen from Battle of Edoras. Here I used Black templar on the fur and it's the only difference between this batch and the first one.

I have finally managed to paint the 9 remaining models for the unit (as I painted the test one last year). I really like how they turned out! To be honest, I was looking for an excuse to use Murder Scene and Terradon Turquoise and decided to use them in this project alongside the typical greens, beiges and browns.

The Models

The models are push-fit miniatures from the Dominion box - the starter set for the previous edition of Age of Sigmar. I got it late in 2021, when it was much more than 50% off. This particular kit went on pretty well, but one must be cautious as they are quite spikey!
