Finished: Winged Tyranid Prime from Leviathan

The penultimate model for the Combat Patrol is the Winged Tyranid Prime, meant also as the main HQ for the tyranids in the Leviathan box. As all the models in this set it was an "easy to build" kit, and as all tyranids it was preaty spikey.

This is a really cool sculpt, and most of the model is easily accessible (not all of them, unfortunately). It is painted in almost the exact same way as most of the basic grunts, the only difference being using a purple wash on the membranes of the wings.

Finished: Beast-skewer Killbow

I have finished the penultimate model for the Orruk Warclans Spearhead, or rather the Kruleboyz Spearhead. The Beast-skewer Killbow (or as I like to call it: big crossbow) is the only model for the Spearhead that was not included in the Dominion box. I bought it last year, then assembled to play Spearhead and then it sat, waiting to be painted. Now the wait is over and it can join my painted AoS Orruk Warclans models!

The model itself is an "easy to build" model, which means that it required no glue to assemble, but sometimes the parts went together in weird ways. It also kept me from painting this in sub-assemblies. But all in all it is a great sculpt and I'm happy to have it!

As  for the scheme I went for my usual Kruleboyz scheme. The only new colour here is the Ghillie Dew that I used to paint the skin of the goblins that "help" crew this contraption.

Finished: Von Ryan's Leapers from Leviathan

The Leapers jump into the fray. I am slowly approaching the finish line for both the Combat Patrol (only the Winged Tyranid Prime and Psychophage left) and the Tyranid half of the Leviathan box in general.

My problem with these models was that I have inadvertently primed them with a gloss primer and then had issues with knocking it down with satin varnish. Apart from that, really fun models! Which is great, as it's possible that I'll have to paint two more sets for the "Oops, all lictors" Combat Patrol that was published in one White Dwarves (and is now available to download from Warhammer Community). As for the scheme, the only thing that is different from a standard termagant or hormagaunt are the tendrils, which I painted using Guilliman Flesh followed by Purple Tone.

Finished: Murknob with Belcha-Banna from Dominion

The Murknob with Belcha-Banna is a really cool hero model from the Dominion box that made it to Spearhead. It's full of great detail and many textures, which makes it awesome for slapchop. As for the scheme, it is mostly the same as for the Gutrippaz. The new colours here are: Volupus Pink for the tongue, Targor Rageshade for the skin of the heads, Ratling Grime for the hair, Desolate Brown for the fluid oozing from the tongue, Blood for the Blood God for the blood droplets.

I know that this looks like it is the second orc painted for Orctober, but it is actually the 10th! I'm painting with a queue of models in place and most of them are orcs of different kinds. Keep your fingers crossed for me getting to paint all the orcs I want to this month, but even if I don't, you;ll get a mid-month update on the progress.

Finished: Ork Warboss from Assault on Black Reach

My Bad Moons now have a proper Warboss, which is also the first finished model for Orctober (and the 6th model painted this month). There are only 3 Deffkoptas left to fiinish the ork side of the Assault on Black Reack box.

The only new colour on this model are Volupus Pink for the tongue and some Balthazar Gold for various metallic elements to break up the silver a little bit. The rest is painted exactly the same as my Ork Boyz

I'm really happy with how this model came out!

Hobby Summary: September 2025

September was a little dissapointing in terms of work done on miniatures. I must admit that it was intense with a holiday trip, retake of my calculus exam etc. I have also decided to drop tracking my painting spree as it would get restarted too many times. I have also decided to resign from my "at least 1 mini/day" system as I currently have too many things going on to be able to dedicate. Its goal was to normalize painting for me and make me pick up the brush with the same joy as I pick up a book to read. And it was a great success (at least judging by the number of painted miniatures). My current goal is to try to have more miniatures painted in a month that there days in that month (which was not achieved in September, unfortunately). I also planned to paint only orcs and other greenskins in O(r)ctober, but ultimately decided against it not to get burned out. I fully intend for greenskins to be the focus for the month, but I will paint other models when I feel like doing so!
