Finished: Lancelot, Duke of Gallia
This is another Highland Miniatures model that I paint as a gift for one of my parents. This time it is a Father's Day gift for my dad, so he chose the heraldic colours for the knight (chosing the coat of arms of one of the most famous Polish knights) and the horse colour. My own input here was the fact that I tried to emulate hawk's wing pattern on the wings of the pegasus and I think it worked out pretty well.
The Miniature
The miniature comes from a Frontier campaign that was about medieval knights fillers and had a lot of really nice models as well, obviously including this one.
The Scheme
- Slapchop underpainting
- White on all the elements that will be yellow
- Ancient Honey for the yellow elements
- Blood Angels Red fur the red elements
- Gore-grunta Fur for the horse fur and parts of the wings
- Skeleton Horde for parts of the wings, and any lines
- Ratling Grime for the hooves, tail and horse hair, as well as the tips of the feathers
- Wyldwood for all the wooden elements
- Garaghak Sewer for all the straps and leather
- Basilicanum Grey for the fur
- Guilliman Flesh for the skin
- Black Templar for the hair
- Leadbelcher for the metal elements
- Retributor Armour for the decorative elements
- Nuln Oil on all the metals

Finished: Uruk-hai Berserkers
But damn, now I understand why people call the material these dudes ware made of "failcast". It's awful to work with, there were some bubbles and the resin "ducts" were in very weird places. But apart from the material they are made of, I loved painting them!

Finished: Troll from Battle for Skull Pass
The troll (or maybe Common Troll?) is the penultimate unit left for the goblin side of the Battle for Skull Pass set. I remember that on the box art the miniature was mostly grey, but I've seen the photos on GW's website and decided to change the scheme a bit.
The Miniature
Old, monopose and chunky. Big, textured and awesome. Just the right amount of detail, a quick and fun miniature to paint.
The Scheme
- Slapchop underpainting
- Blinding Light, Ashen Stone, Bony Matter and Speedpaint Medium in 2:2:1:2 ratio for the belly, chest and lower part of the face and ears
- Desolate Brown for the rest of the body
- Burnt Moss for the pustules and scales
- Skeleton Horde for the bones, teeth, nails and rope
- Basilicaum Grey for the stones and statues
- Retributor Armour for the gold
- Volupus Pink for the inside parts of the wounds and scars
- Mephiston Red for the eyes
- Cygor Brown for the loincloth
- Leadbelcher for the metals
- Magic Blue for the shield nad necklace
- Dark Tone for the metals
Finished: First batch of Dunlending Hill Tribesmen from Battle of Edoras
The Models
The box comes with two sprues of those miniatures, with most of the bodies having a two equipment options. The poses are very dynamic and this can be see as an issue as they usually have only one foot on the ground which makes it very likely that they fall of their bases at least once. I've heard that they are difficult and troublesome to build, but I do not agree. They are more complex than most MESBG miniatures, that is true, but not more complex than other GW kits.
The Scheme
My colour choices come from THIS video by Warhipster. I decided to skip the last drybrush and convert the scheme to work with Slapchop. The effect is as follows:
- Slapchop underpainting
- Grey Seer on the skin
- Black Legion for the boots and bows, arrow shafts, the tar covered rags on the brands and the belts
- Wyldwood for legwraps, bracers and wood
- Ratling Grime for the skirt above the wraps, and for the sleeves if they are present
- Cygor Brown for the layer above (if present)
- Garaghak's Sewer for the layer above rhat (if present)
- Snakebite Leather for the layer above that (if present) and the trousers
- Black Templar/Skeleton Horde for the fur
- Black Templar/Nuln Oil, Black Legion/ Agrax Earthshade/Basilicanum Grey for the hair
- Guilliman Flesh for the skin
- Ancient Honey on the flame then Fire Giant Orange leaving some of the yellow behind, then Red Angels Green for the upper half followed by Black Templar on the tips
- Irron Warriors for the metals
- Nuln Oil for the metals
- Iron Hands Steel drybrush on the metals

Finished: GrimCorp Elder
Yesterday evening I decided to have a little palate cleanser after painting the 5th goblin in my 1 mini/day system and complement the goblin model painted in the morning with some a sci-fi character. I painted this minature with Space Weirdos in mind, but I think that I could use him in a variety of different games!
The Model
This is the GrimCorp Elder, designed by StationForge. It comes in four parts: the body, the empty hand, the hand with the staff and the head (available in two variants) and I 3d printed it on my trusty Mars 2p. The elements are neither too thick nor too feeble and assembly was easy.
The Scheme
- Slapchop underpainting
- White on the ball on the top of his staff and the lenses
- Turnbull Turquise (Army Painter) for the main part of the robe
- Skeleton Horde (Citadel) for the tabard and the trim of the cape
- Satchel Brown (Army Painter) for boots, gloves and belt
- Gore-grunta Fur (Citadel) for pouches
- Shyish Purple (Citadel) for the cape
- Black Legion (Citadel) for the staff and cables
- Frostheart (Citadel) for the ball and eyelense
- Shamrock Green (Army Painter) for the rest of the lenses and screens
- True Brass (Army Painter) for most of the metals (majority of the breastplate and helmet plus the bracers)
- Heavy Metal (Army Painter) for the majority of the remaining metals
- Screaming Bell (Citadel) for a few bits and bobs that we don't want to be neither brass nor steel
- Grimdark Shadow (Army Painter) for the metals
